I used to be a frequent flyer, I even endured some pretty rough flights and landings and never never had any fear or anxiety about planes. Now I have developed a phobia and can hardly tolerate being on a plane... Anybody knows if this could be connected to having seen the 9/11 attacks on TV and thinking about how awful it must have been for those people onboard?

i saw the twin towers fall right in front of my eyes.
i was 9 when i saw it.
think about this..you are able to fly on an airplane knowing you are going to some place special. you are lucky to be able to be on the plane, while some people only dream of it. if i can survive, you can.
the people onboard the planes that hit the twin towers were bad people anyways. it was their choice to do it.
your choice is just to relax and have fun on a plane.

Seeing the 9/11 attacks on tv, can give someone flying phopia, but not for me. You have to be willing to get onboard a plane, flying is the easiest way to travel. Millions of planes fly everyday with passengers, and not recent there were problems.

I don't have a phobia about it, but I will say that I was considering going to a convention on the East Coast for my job (I live in the Midwest), but I decided not to when I realized it would be in September. I'd fly any other month, though.

Definitely I would have had more of a fear back closer to 9/11. Now,I believe with added security stops, profiling and air marshalls that air travel is much safer than before. Don't be afraid. Don't let the terrorists frighten you. Don't let them win. Enjoy yourself and fly. It is quicker and safer than driving your car.

yit could if you talk yourself into it. you need to tell yourself that the chances of the plane you get on being hijacked are 1,000,000,000,000 to 1.

Why wouldn't it, that was the most horrific thing we probably ever seen.
