All travelers checks carry the signsture of the purchaser on the front. Only that person can cash the check and they must sign in front of the bank teller.

What kind of check are you referring to? I cash check payable to me all the time, but I have never purchased one. The bank care about who is listed on the "Pay to the order of" line on the check. The don't know or care WHY the check is payable to you.

EDIT: I just found your earlier question about a travelers check. As I answered their, I recommend asking at the bank. Preferably with the person who purchased the check present.
