I really like the alternative kind of music in the 90's and early 2000's. I like the alternative music that is almost pop and is not mean or sad sounding. Like wonderwall by oasis for example. Pleese help give me some songs that match this description and the artist who sings them. Pleese help!

Tonight- Smashing Pumpkins
One Headlight- Wallflowers
Smells like teen Spirit- Nirvana
From your Mouth- God Lives Under Water
Hemorrhage (in my hands)- Fuel
Machinehead- Bush
Black Hole Sun- Sound Garden
Lightening Crashes - Live

Actually, anything by the above artists, plus Stone Temple Pilots, Beck, Sublime, Veruka Salt, Pearl Jam, Radiohead, Green Day, the list can go on. I agree, the music from the '90s rocked and what is playing now is nowhere near the quality.

Check out any of the following if you like poppy alt. sound. Matt Nathanson, Belle and Sebastian, Call and Response, Asobi Seksu, The Postal Service, Appleseed Cast, Mew, Decemberists, Ivy -- to name a few. Maybe a little more indie alt sounding than grunge alt, but you mentioned Oasis as an example and these bands are more akin to Oasis or at least meet somewhere in the middle between Oasis and atypical grunge like Nirvana and Pearl Jam. Grunge was never intended to sound poppy, though it became relatively mainstream if that is how we define Pop.

90's Alternative rock is the best music ever! Try bands like Sublime, Smashing Pumpkins, blink 182, The Offspring, Nirvana, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Screaming Trees, Violent Femmes, Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Alkaline Trio, Sonic Youth, DIshwalla, Blind Melon, Dinosaur Jr., Red Hot Chili Peppers, and pretty much any 90's alternative rock, ska, grunge or post-grunge band you can find.

I'm older, but if you're interested in early punk and hardcore-the predecessors-you might like: The Germs,Black Flag,Circle Jerks,Bad Brains,DOA,Varukers,UK Subs,X-Ray Spex. All are loud fast earbleed punk.As for old stuff combining another genre you might wanna look up The Cramps, early Gun Club(both damaged hillbilly/rockabilly punk),Operation Ivy(ska punk, initial Rancid members),first Siouxsie And The Banshees album(kinda gothy noise sculptures),early Gang Of Four(punk funk is the best way to describe them).
