if you are young you may not have regualr periods for the first few years. Irregualr periods can cause some fertility issues, but they are usually easy to solve. If you are bothered by the unpredictability of your periods, see your dr and get on birth control pills, they will regualte your periods, and you will be prepared for when you are ready to have a sexual realtionship. Good luck

You are able to get prego after your first period, no matter how regular or irregular you are. The problem with irregularity is you never know when you're ovulating so you never know when you're most fertile. If you're a virgin, then you should have no worries about being prego. If you're going to have sex, go tell your parents that this may happen and you want to be responsible (shown by you telling your parents) and you would like to be on BC pills. The pills will not only help prevent a gregnancy (notice I did not say "will prevent". They are not 100%!) but they will help regulate your period. Many teens are on them simply for the fact that they help with your period. (Don't use that as an excuse for being on them though.)
Planned parenthood can help answer any questions you may have but your best source of info is your......well.......you know. Parents!

It all depends really on how old you are and how long you have had your period. If this is your first year of having a period then not to panic it takes a bit for your cycle to become regular.
If you are a bit older or you have had your period for a few years now and its still that irregular then you may want to talk to you mom about seeing a gynocologist. I got my period when i was in the fith grade and by the seventh grade it still hadnt straightened its self out so my mom took me to a gyno. It was uncomfortable at first because i too was a virgin. I requested that she take me to a female doctor because i was shy, no man had seen that area of my body before. But the doctor was sensitive to my nervousness and tried to walk me through everything to keep me informed so i felt in control of the situation and a lot more comfortable.
Unfortunately for me i was diagnosed with something called poly cystic ovarian syndrome. Its where you have hundreds of really small cyst all over your ovaries. There are too many and they are too small to remove with sergery though. It effects the levels of hormones in your body quite drastically. There are some symptoms of PCOS that you can read about on these websites to determine if you think you might be at risk.
Women with this problem have a lot of difficulty concieving because of such infrequent ovulation. The doctor had put me on birth control pills to regulate my period which worked for me to an extent. After several months on one brand of pills my body would like kind of become immune to that pill and we would have to switch me to another brand because my periods would become irregular again. In adulthood i currently dont have insurance but my husband and i make too much money for much financial assited doctors care so i cant afford the birth control pills. I have maybe two periods a year now and its been this way for several years now.
I hope this isnt whats wrong with you but i dont think you should speak with your mom about getting a gynocologist appointment. Every girl needs to keep tabs on her body and her feminine health. Here are a few websites to check out...

You're fertile and ovulate right before a period. If you have a period less, then youre ovulating less, and therefore less likely to get pregnant.
However, I always had very regulat periods and would use that to calculate when i was ovulating and not have sex around that time. If you dont know when youre going to have your period, you dont know when youre ovulating.. know what i mean.
so if you become sexually active be SURE to be on birth control and use a condom.

This does have anything to do with you being less likely to get pregnant. But if you just started, it'll take a year or two for you to become completely regular. Not to worry, you're fine. ;)

It could be on how long you have had it. For about the first year or two, it can be irregular!
