A lot of people have discounted my idea because it will leave out some good teams that deserve to be in the play-offs. I got a great idea to add to that. Why not take the 4 division leaders in both leagues and add two more wild-card teams to the play-offs?

Example:

AL
1) NYY (AL East)
2) LAA (AL West)
3) MIN (AL Midwest)
4) DET (AL Central)
5) BOS (AL Wild-Card)
6) OAK (AL Wild-Card)

NL
1) NYM (NL East)
2) SF (NL West)
3) MIL (NL Central)
4) HOU (NL Midwest)
5) WSH (NL Wild-Card)
6) LAD (NL Wild-Card)

Wild-Card (Best of 3)
BOS vs. DET (BOS)
OAK vs. MIN (MIN)
WSH vs. HOU (HOU)
LAD vs. MIL (LAD)

Divisional (Best of 5)
NYY vs. MIN (NYY)
LAA vs. BOS (BOS)
NYM vs. LAD (NYM)
SF vs. HOU (HOU)

Championship (Best of 7)
NYY vs. BOS (NYY)
NYM vs. HOU (NYM)

World Series (Best of 7)
NYY vs. NYM (NYY)

I made my own schedule of play-off games and this idea would bring the World Series into the first week of November.

The top 2 teams in the AL and NL get a bye week when the Wild-Card round is in progress.

My argument would be that the baseball playoffs go on too long already. Baseball was not meant to be played outside in the North in November, especially at night. Plus, adding byes and a fourth round would create some scheduling inequities. Does a team need/want five or six days off at the end of the season? It can be a bit awkward on a rotation.

I don't mind three rounds of playoffs (four seems a bit much), but we should shorten the season to 154 games (traditional, pre-1961) in order to make the postseason fit better.

Oh, and there's something wrong with your champion. But that's a Red Sox fan talking.

No you can't do this. Do you really want sub .500 teams in the playoffs? This makes to many divisions and too many playoff teams. Sorry bad idea.

So how would the weather be in Chicago that time of year? Or how about New York, or Boston? So how long have you had your head up your butt?

I can't even begin to tell what an awful idea that is.

This idea is SO BAD, it makes the "white sox" look good!
