I kinda like eMail, but I still use the phone to call my Cousin. And when my PC is down, I sure was thinking about calling my friends.

It demands on who the person is. If it's a close friend, then I would rather call them on the phone to communicate with them( but nowadays my friends and I actually use multiple texts to have conversations). But if it was anyone else, and I could opt to send them an email, I would.

Send e-mail when it isn't personal,

phone conversations are better if you want to get the sarcasm or sincerity of some comments

On the phone. Email can easily be miss read. Infact it is more times than not.
Look what happened with FEMA and Katrina.
