It's normal to feel homesick, even if you are only one town away. You are in a new place; you don't yet know people, never mind have friends.

You are away from everything that is familiar to you, everything that made it home. You miss your family, that's obvious. But you also miss the people you were friendly with or just recognize from around your area. You know where all the stores are, where all the fun places are It's more than just your family, but if you are close to them, that can be the hardest. It is often lonely when we go away, even if we are going to a place we want to, such as your summer college camp.

If you really miss your family, try to find a telephone and call them. That is so much more personal than just sending them an email. That will help you feel "grounded" while you get used to your surroundings at camp.

Sooner than it feels right now, you will start to make friends and you will start to get used to the place. Before you know it, you will be enjoying yourself and not feel so homesick. Soon you can talk to your family and tell them how much you are enjoying yourself. Good luck.

Can you call them or email them? It might help the situation to hear from them?

Because "there's no place like home".
