I just bought a new WD hard drive (500GB) and I've installed windows vista on it along with my other WD hard drive (250GB) which has windows XP on it.. how do i set it up to dual boot from the new one to the old one? I set the jumpers right and everything. thanks :)

oh and in order to go from one OS (already installed) to the second one (already installed) I have to move the jumpers from the mother board which is a big problem because I have to open my computers case everytime :(

when you restart the computer go to the BIOS by pressing F2 or Del key and change the boot up sequence so that the drive you want to boot is first.

For a dual boot, you can use the boot menu on either windows vista or xp, boot from the install CD and load the console, then type Help for a list of commands and there should be one that says "bootconfig" or similar. there's one that scans the disks and auto configures the dual boot part, but I don't remember it right now... I need to see the list in front of me to recognize it :P

Or, a lot more flexible, download and install grub which is a free loader for linux that works wonders and it's a lot more flexible than the ones that come win the WINs.

You must go into the BIOS and change the boot sequence so that it boots from the hard drive 1 instead of hard drive 0.

make the only u choose besides from a grasp via making use of the jumper pins and the different difficultchronic a slave making use of the comparable pins. The pins are on the returned of the difficultchronic. confirm u have the drivers for the motherboard or it wont boot up.

go to your CMOS set up
Boot Sequence > first boot to the drive you labeled Master or Slave
Whichever setting you have the OS on the one you want to boot

go into the bios when you start the computer, press DEL or F2 and change the boot sequence, then save and exit(normally F10). :)
