After several cakes that came out of the same cake pan were burned, George concluded that if he baked another cake in the same cake pan it would likely come out burned.

Is this an example of inductive reasoning or deductive reasoning????

Deductive reasoning means taking a general principle and applying it to a specific situation, while
Inductive reasoning means taking something specific and drawing a general principle from it.

Since the cake burning is specific, and George concluded something general it falls under INDUCTIVE reasoning.

George does not know for certain that the next cake will be burned. Therefore this is inductive reasoning. It is generally regarded as totally invalid reasoning.

Every bird that I have seen is black. Therefore all birds are black. This is typical inductive reasoning and as you can see, it could lead to a false conclusion.
