I live in a two home address. Our Landord lives in the front and we live in the back. There is one mailbox for both homes. We have a Lock/Key Mailbox where we get our Mail. There was an argument between us this morning because of hearsay from the neighbors. In The Afternoon when I go to retrieve our Mail, I discover the lock on the Mailbox has been changed and we no longer have access to our mail! Isn't this A Federal Crime? What can I do? They are not home at this time.

"If there are two families in the house, there should be two mail boxes."

How do we do that? We have the same House Number, does the carrier have the ability to sort by names into our mailboxes?

Call the police, tell them your landlord has changed the access to your mail and they he is the only one allowed to get to it. If he actually tampers with your mail or causes any of it to NOT reach you, he can get up to nine years in prison for each bit of mail (also hearsay, I'd suggest looking it up).

First contact the postmaster in your town. Then get a mailbox of your own and put it up with lock and key separate. You could address your mail as apt 2 or b and put that on your mailbox along with the house number.

It seems simple enough to solve: Have the address written as 123 Oak St., Apt. 1 or Apt. 2, install a second box and write the Apt #s on the boxes.
Another option if you can't settle this to your satisfaction: rent a PO Box and have your mail delivered there.
Another option: if your landlord is really a jerk, find another place to live.
For now, have a little chat with the US Postal Service about your problem.

I would talk to the landlord once, and if I was not satisfied with his response, I would go to the post office that processes your mail and ask to speak with the postmaster or a postal inspector. What you're describing might very well be a serious crime.

I don`t know if you`re aware of this , but all mailboxes in the U.S.A are the property of the USPS . Even though you bought and paid for your mailbox , it does not belong to you ! It is the exclusive property of the USPS .

This case is only one small example of why that is so . Report your lunatic landlord to the postal authorities ! They`ll straighten him out .......... FAST !

I know I have mail but I can't get through the terms and privacy prompt either. Yahoo keeps making these so called improvements but they appear to be more of a downgrade.

Contact the USPS. No one can mess with your mail or your mail box. If there are two familie in the house, there should be two mail boxes.

He cannot do that. Call the authorities.
