That is the same excuse Paris Hilton used. It didn't work for her and it won't work for you. She is in jail. In is illegal in all 50 states and the cop that stops you can haul you off to jail and have your car towed, or just ticket you. So, you were lucky.

In New York State, a "moving violation" is not defined by the Vehicle Traffic Law, so I'm not sure what you mean. According to section 511, it states that Aggravated Unauthorized Operation, or driving with a suspended license in the 3rd degree is a misdemeanor, not a traffic infraction which is not a crime. It is punishable by a mandatory fine of at least $200, and as high as $500 and possible imprisonment on top of that of at most 30-days.

However, to be guilty of the charge, you have to know or have reason to know that your license was suspended. If you honestly had no idea that your license was suspended, that may be a defense and you should speak with your attorney.

You are not suppose to drive on a suspended license anywhere in the United States as far as I know. You should have contacted your lawyer to make sure that was taken care of. So I guess you pay your tickets and get your drivers license straightened up.

Pay the fines. Yes, you committed two moving violations. You are supposed to see to your own personal matters, like making sure you have a valid license before driving. You cannot expect to delegate responsibilities.
