I had one at 12 weeks (dating scan) and one at 20 weeks (anomoly scan). You can also have an early scan sometimes if you've had problem pregnancys before (usually around 6-8 weeks). You may also have regula scan after the 20 week mark if there are complications in the pregnancy.
And also you can pay for private scans anytime you like .

My first was at 8 weeks, my second scheduled was at 18 weeks.

Unfortunately I almost miscarried so I ended up having 2 more, one at 14 weeks and one at 16 weeks.

I'm guessing (remembering when I was pregnant with my son) that I should have another one around 36 weeks to check her position

I think most people have 2 or 3

you never actually have to have an ultrasound, but common times are about 8-12 weekd to get a due date and 18-20 to predict gender. other times to check a mom with complications theyll do some in the third trimester to estimate babys weight if they need to induce for some reason as soon as it is safe

It depends on your health and the baby's development. In a normal, uncomplicated pregnancy you'd have one to date the fetus and one at 5 months. If you're carrying twins or higher you'll have one a month until 7 months and then 2/month. If your baby presents problems (too much/too little amniotic fluid) you will follow the same u/s schedule as a multiple mom.

It just depends on your doctor. My doctor starts them when you get around 18 weeks and does 3-4 ultrasounds every appointment which is every 4 weeks to check the development of the baby.

It ultimately depends on your doctor and the circumstances surrounding your pregnancy. My doctor prefers that his patients have one every visit because he thinks it helps the mother of the baby feel relieved to see her baby's progress. I have double coverage on my insurance so I can afford it. Most insurances don't want to pay for an ultrasound every visit unless you have a medical condition that makes it necessary.

Usually only 2-3, unless you or the baby is at high risk. It also depends on your insurance company.

Once unless there is a complication or something the doctor wants to pursue further, or keep an eye on.
