My mother is an RN (nurse) and does C-Sections constantly. Women can choose if they want one and don't want the pain of normal birthing. Babies die during the C-Section, but the main reasons are not from the section itself, but earlier complications or normal things that can happen when the birthing is done normally. I do not know if it scars, but I assume it does. Hope this helps.

Normally a c-section birth is done due to complications with the mother or child, tho these days some doctors will let the woman choose to have a planned c-section. Yes a scar is left, Mine was done right at the bikini line and is about as long as a finger, not bad at all considering I had twins.

The doctor will choose whether it is necessary for you to have a c-section. The c-section is MAJOR ABDOMINAL SURGERY! It should not be used to "avoid the pain of childbirth" - that's what epidurals are for. The recovery from a c-section is much longer than a vaginal birth. And contrary to what some people think - an OB doctor who is responsible will not subject a woman to a c/section just for extra $ - the risk to the woman and her baby is just not worth it.
My c/section was done because my daughter was in fetal distress and would not drop into the birth canal - the recovery was very painful - so much more than my friends who had their babies vaginally. And yes I have a big scar on my belly now, although it can not be seen in a bathing suit...

yes you can choose to have a C-section, and the doctors will support that because it means more money for them. Yes there will be a big scar about 5 to 10 inches, but the doctor make it really low ...you will be able to use two piece swimming suits again. Can the baby die from a C-section?....well c-section is a mayor surgery there are a lot of risks for both the mother and the baby....the doctor will explain them all.

I have had 3 c-sections and can tell you for sure that you will end up with a 5" scar. My first child was presenting upside down (face up) and they couldn't turn her so I had an emergency c/s. My next pregnany was twins so we (the doctor, myself & my husband) opted for another c/s. My last was also a section because of the previous ones.
Don't let anyone tell you a c/s is better than labor because it is major surgery and hurts something fierce. That said, if it's the best way to go for your health and the health of the baby it's well worth it.

C-section is major surgury, and should only be preformed when there is a definite medical reason. yes, you will have a scar, and yes, babies can die duringa c-section, just like in vaginal birht. C-section is usually done when the baby is breech, the baby is too big to be born vaginally , or the mother or baby has a health condition that would be aggrivated by a vaginal delivery.

I'm almost positive the doctor chooses for you, and the scar is not as noticeable if you choose the bikini one.

C-Sections can be elected by the mother. *chosen
but that does not mean the doctor will agree with her reasons why she wants one.
having major surgery is definitley a creating a higher risk to the child & the mother.

It really depends on your doctor, mine allowed me to choose what i wanted.
It depends on what type of cut you get, if you get the bikini one it has a scar but it is VERY light and if you wear a bikini you can not even see it
