My 12 year old is going into middle school. She wants a chocolate but I herd the phones are really bad. I have Verizon so I need a phone in that network. She shares a phone with my son(10) and other son(7) but they use it for ONLY games. My12 year old uses it for calling, texting and pix to her friends and family and we have let them share for a year and the phones in OK shape.

Try one of the Sony Ecrisson phones. They take great quality pictures, store music, and have alot of other nifty features along with it. it's also stylish enough for a preteen. Check if there's one in your Verizon network by logging on to their network

1) Stop begging for a phone now. 2) Ask nicely for one for Christmas and don't bring up how your brother got a phone when he was your age. 3) Say nothing about the scary people you see when jogging. I think you are exaggerating so you get a phone. If not, maybe you should do some kind of exercise at home. 4) Do your homework 5) Clean your room 6) When you do get the phone, make sure you are responsible with it and don't go over on your minutes or texting. That is an easy way to get the phone taken away permanently.

I'm glad you are a nice enough parent to let her have a cell. Make her understand that not everyone's parents are nice enough for them to have a cell. You should discuss the chocolate with your daughter and how you think its bad. I think you should look in CONSUMER REPORTS magazine or even online to see if what you heard is true. Also if what you heard is true both of you should discuss other possibilities.

NONE! 12 years old is way too young. I don't' care if it's the cool thing or not, wait until she can drive, then get her one, just in case she needs to call you in an emergency. and make the limits clear. 10 and 7 are defiantly too young to have phones, especially if they are only using them for games.

Wait a few more years, maybe 2 or 3. She can live without one until then!
Go for a cheapish one as they don't last long in Teenagers.

If you absolutely have to get her a cell phone, don't let her text.
I have many reasons...
1) She'll become addicted
2) She'll get carpal tunnel (sp?)
3) 12 year olds DONT NEED TO TEXT.
4) She'll always be texting

Get her a cheap phone, she doesn't need a sweet phone at fricken 12. She doesn't need a camera either. Just get the cheapest and simplest phone or else you'll have a teenage ***** when she grows up wanting everything.

no cell phone at all
that is way too young to give her one
wait for high school. like 10th grade
trust me, I know from experience.
did you know that a 12 year olds [or a 13] brain isnt fully developed yet and cell phones give of micro waves that heat up the liquid in your ear, and could leak into your brain, causing severe damage? That's why your ear is so hot if you tlak on the cell phone after awhile, Its a proven fact, so go ahead and let that happen. Give your daughter a cell phone.

there is this disney phone that allows you to control the minutes they spend, the time they can use it and i think it has a locator so you know where your kids are at.

i think that is a good idea for parents.
