for example, someone who would go up to a dog and kicking it viciously in the head etc, I think that person should get at least life imprisonment? what do you think?

Random violence against domestic animals should be punished just as severely as it is against humans. I have 2 dogs and they are a part of my family. Granted there is more involved in the care of the children, but the dogs are loved and cared for every bit as much as the kids. If someone kicked one of my dogs in the head I would expect they would be charged as if it was any member of my family, maybe not life imprisonment, unless that act resulted in death.

Well I think that if someone killed a dog or a cat or any animal, and if that person wanted to do that , that person should have the same punishment like when that person would kill a human... Of course if that happens in self defense then that person should get a punishment but not the same.... We should all look animals like we are looking people everyday... They are part of this world just like we are...

Certainly not life in prison for kicking a dog in the head. Punishment should depend upon the cruelty of the case - a first time offendor, and if the animal was attacking.

I have no respect for individuals who take their anger out on animals, I think the laws need to be enforced and there needs to be stricter punishment - JAIL TIME, not a fine.

Yes I do. No animal deserves to be beaten, they are innocent victims. I think the person should be thrown in jail for life and get the same thing done to them what they did to the animal. I am 100 percent against animal cruelty!

i think people like that should get the exact same treatment for life that they have given to the animal they have abused. any one that is so sick to hurt an innocent animal does not deserve any compassion ( i also feel this way for the stupid (add expletives here) morons that treat people this way).... there is no reason to hurt anyone or anything and i realize that my answer seems contradictory to my feelings, but i believe that the punishment should fit the crime and when people see what the punishment is perhaps the crimes will stop.....

Not life but atlest 5-10 years.... Or for some one to wear steel toe boots and kick him in the head really hard a few times.

Yep. I think the harming of animals is a behavior that FULLY Correlates to how they would treat a person if they can get away with it. If you looked into an abuser's background.....you would see them harm animals.
For the animals, I think they should get an awful, harsh, long, violating, constant reminder sentence! Of course, if the idea is that they would EVER get out......then, I've created a monster!

If you see abuse turn them into the police if in town, sheriff if out, or ASPCA if near a big enough city to have one!

Life for kicking a dog?? You are an idiot!! Certainly it is wrong but you can't punish someone for life for inflicting temporary pain on an animal. Hell, in this country you can't even sentence someone to community service for killing an unborn human!!! What a bunch of morons.

Maybe a really big fine and community service or mucking out zoo cages or something. People that don't care about animals might care about their pocketbook or their free time.

definitely-think they should get more because they are doing it on purpose with the intent to maim or kill the animal. To me, its no different than killing a human being-animals should be treated with the same respect and they give death or life sentences when a person takes someone else's life-they should do the same for animals.
