I have used tampons since I was 10 years old. I love them for sports. If you are worried about a leak then change it often and make sure to use the maximum absorbancy for the day. I usually used super in high school. I think regular in jr high. I didn't like the pads because I was afraid that everyone could see them. I also changed my tampon between halfs in basketball and went to the bathroom during other sports like track and golf. If it is a short workout or sport (under 2 hours) a regular tampon should be fine. Just so you know I used them since 10 (i started at 9) because I couldn't swim without them and I was too embarassed at that age to sit out in the summer for a week. They don't take long to get used to and I am in my 30's now!

If I were you, I'd try tampons. You won't have to worry about a pad moving while you're running or whatever. Try to buy the "tampex pearls"...they insert easily and they are slightly smaller than the other ones. Once you get used to those, you can move onto whatever one you think will work for you. Make sure you read the box and change your tampon as often as it tells you to (to avoid leaking and toxic shock syndrome).
Don't feel embarassed...Every girl your age goes through the same thing...no worries.

either works but I find tampons are less likely to leak but can be uncomfortable for first time users which can make it hard to play the sport. but if you use pad wear panty liner underneath just in case (only if you are not going to change it whole sports time). hope that helps

During sports seasons for me, I would always wear a tampon and a panty liner just in case there was a leak. I played tennis as well, it always seemed to work for me.

Tampons are made to stay in your body. pads catch things as the leave. And well, pads slip and slide around when your active. Tampons are held in by the vagina muscle, so no slipping, if its put in right. I'm not gonna lie to you, tampons can somtimes be complicated to put in. But, when their in right, you cant feel them.
so to avoid leakage, use a tampon, adn change it regularily, otherwise it will hurt and leake.
trust me, i found that out during soccer.

I use tampons and a panty liner - much less bulky than a pad, but still prevents any leaks from the tampon

Tampax makes a tampon especially for active sporty women. Look into it. Tampons are usually a bit more comfortable anyhow, not sweaty and bulky like a pad.

I say use both. When you're not playing sports, use a pad and when you are use a tampon.

They make pads with sticky sides now and wings. They DON'T fall out. But if you are comfortable with tampons use them.

I ran Track and Cross Country with pads. I used the sticky kind with wings and never had a problem.
