I'm Italian and I'm so desperate for the point we have come to in my country, I'm really considering moving abroad for good,
There's nothing but a bleak outlook for young people, tons of euros wasted by politicians for their own interests, corruption, more taxes, less services, uncertain future, graduated young people exploited in call centers paid 500 euros per month and not able to afford moving out their parents house (you can't even afford food to live one month with 500 euros).

The situation is really serious, is the same in the US?

I've learned with time that most American politicians love their country, and the people they serve.

American's situation is much better than it is in Italy. In Italy, you expect (and accept) the corruption you see. In America, we still expect honesty and integrity, and vigorously oppose those that are corrupt. Remember we nearly impeached Richard Nixon for lying and we did impeach Bill Clinton for lying to the Grand Jury investigating him. Can you imagine any Italian being accused of "telling a lie?"

Where in Italy, most of the corruption is for financial gain, in America it is for "glory": that is "fame."

Every politician I've ever met in America--regardless of their party--has a great love for their country. As you know, that isn't true in Italy (or elsewhere in Europe) where the plan is to get into politics so you can get enough money to get out of politics. In America, the politicians are always trying for higher office--so they must remain above "money."

A few politicians here are in it for the money--but very few. And at a local level, politics is very pure in America. Our corruption usually comes from the inner cities (a small segment of the entire population) where the people have never learned how to understand finances.

As you know in Italy, most policemen, and essentially every local magistrate will take a bribe. There bribery is accepted. Here, a politician, or policeman taking a bribe would immediately be tried in a court of law--and given a stiff sentence if found guilty.

Here, even working in a fast food restaurant you can earn enough money to have a modest apartment, and a car. While in Italy, you are doomed to live only with the help of others for the same unskilled labor.

Having been in both places (Italy and America) I choose America! By a lot!

We may have problems, but it is no where near as corrupt as anywhere in Europe!

Anyone on here who says otherwise, hasn't been there. They don't know what you and I know--don't believe it!

MY friend, I am thinking of moving to ITALY. I am American but of Italian descent.
American is heading towards a huge drop in the standard of living. It may not be for another 20 years, but countries have already started - to stop- accepting the dollar. As they are realizing there is no backing to it at all.

American Politicians are not trustworthy, accept a few, namely Ron Paul who is runnign or president but is not corporate backed, thus it is a long shot. But good citizens are trying. The rest of the politicians know what they are doing in destroying our soveriegnty, constitution and standard of living.

They are heading towards more free trade agreements and trying to unite Mexico and Canada to form a North American Union - similar to that of European Union you guys have. They want us to havea common currency called the Amero.

America still has a chance to elect someone that can save our country, but it is looking bleaker every day. As corporate politicians own the media, and lie about the issues all the time. Please see my other questions.

ALso how do I become a citizen of Italy/\?

Indeed, Italy is one of the most corrupted government in the world... Your Berlusconi has made the things even worst... I guess he could be compared easily with Bush over here.

As for the social outlook of your country, Italy is a nice place, but one of the most expensive place to live in Europe... If you have some spare money and your still young, you should think traveling around the world, living in other countries and see what the world has to offer you. You could try New-Zealand, Australia, Canada, (maybe not USA if you think that it is the same as in Italy), and many other smaller ones (but please take a safe country to visit, and better if they speek English).

So its all up to you! You may take this sign as one to discover the world, things for sure, you CAN'T be deceived by doing this!

Politicians in the United States of America are the worst politicians in the world. Not a single one serves any purpose but their own, and make promises, and lay out these fancy speeches, and then do none of it. They all have an agenda, and friends that they are going to look out for that have helped them get where they are, and none of them give a damn about the American public.

Don't trust the US. Its ridiculous and its all just part of the same global economy scam governments are playing. All you can basically legally do in US is work and buy stuff and make bills to pay. People just wander in circles here. I don't see any intent to make true freedom. Basically catholics and Christians are ruling the legislation and we lose more freedom every day.

Well I hate to the bearer of bad news but it's the same situation in the U.S. these days. We have a president who fabricated stories to steal Iraqi oil, we've had massive amounts of company executives stealing from the companies they run, crime is getting worse and worse, we have tons of unwed mothers, tons of unskilled workers, a shaky economy, and things don't seem to be getting better.

I'm sorry for the distress in Europe....well, for how it's like in the U.S...I don't trust these politicians any more than they can tell the truth...they're pretty much just like the Europeans I suppose....now I suppose we DO have more opprotunities here than there...but...it's up to you and you should do some research for it too....'cause opinions really don't go anywhere when it comes to decisions....

Some are ok, but generally speaking, no.!!!!!!!
Bush's current approval rating is at about 25%, but the congressional rating is even less.
We need a fundamental change in our election process, like term limits.
We currently have an elected aristocracy. Is this what our founding fathers foresaw?

No, NOT YET!!!!

BUT the Goal of the Democrat Party is more SOCIALISM.
If the Democrats get their way, we will be in the same sinking Third World Boat that Italy and the rest of Europe is in.
