Im dying to know what im having but on the other hand i'd love for the screener to tell me that the baby is lying in position where they can't tell me the sex as it would be fantastic to give birth not knowing the sex of the child that im delivering.

What are your views or experiences on finding out or not finding out your child sex.

Save the surprise for when the baby's born! It's such an incredible moment, seeing that little body for the first time and finally knowing.
I'm getting ultrasounds every 1-2 weeks because of some problems I've had, so I have plenty of opportunity to find out, but I've told my doctor I absolutely do not want to know. It's driving him crazy -- he wants to know more than I do, I think :) -- but he just tells me to turn my head if something on the screen might spoil my surprise.

I have not found out either time and as hard as it was to wait (especially with several ultrasounds for both children), the surprise at the end is absolutely amazing. If you're worried about being ready, there's no need to as far as rooms go. Many babies spend the first couple of months in a bassinet in their parents room and this would still give you plenty of time to prepare a room if you want to go completely boyish or girlish. I think overall it's a personal choice but not knowing tends to make it more exciting for everyone, especially the parents.

I think that knowing the sex has advantages especially when it comes to buys things for the baby. However, many people buy neutral colors anyway. But I think that you should have the sex sealed in an envelope and put it away somewhere. If you can't resist the temptation then you look if not then it'll be a surprise.

if it's your first child... I'd opt for the surprise! If you have a child or two already... then, what's the harm in knowing?

I had 3 boys already and WANTED to know what the fourth child was (in order to prepare myself if it was another boy). fourth child WAS A girl. my fifth child I wanted to know the sex BECAUSE I had to buy everything all over again BECAUSE we had gotten rid of everything BECAUSE we didn't think we could have any more kids... so, when I found out I was having another boy I was able to buy everything we needed ahead of time.

BUT, it was wonderful to have my first child be a surprise!

I find out when I can. If I find out at 20 weeks, or 42 weeks it is still the same surprise and I can be more prepared with specific stuff I want. :)

Well I liked knowing the sex.....not against not knowing but my choice was to know. It helped so we could know what to get from the baby shower....but the thing it, they can be wrong and you have tons of pretty pink dresses and a baby boy that you'd rather not look fruity :) lol it's your choice
