Have you checked the battery within the key fob ("the door lock on her key ring" - i believe thats what you're referring to)? It might just be a faulty battery. Or perhaps shes not pressing the button hard enough. I have a 2004 malibu and you have to press the buttons on the key fob fairly hard (much harder than my 2003 tl) for any of them to work.

If she isn't finding that dealership too helpful with her problem, go to another dealer. The Schaller dealer we bought our car from gave us so many problems, that we just stopped going there.

Maybe the battery is going dead? I work at a Chevrolet dealership and have never seem to had them faulty... perhaps its just the battery.

Check the battery.
Isnt it funny how when you go to show someone something the darn things works fine, but the second they leave, it starts acting up again?

They won't think she's crazy, happens all of the time. Just tell her to be persistent.
