It was easy. After Nixon we eventually got Jimmy Carter. Probably the worst president in modern times. Ronald Reagan took the presidency away in a snap. He became the greatest president in modern times. Then we had to put up with the sleaziest president of all times, Mr. Clinton. Now we have a president who has the country on the right track. You cannot argue with success.

The GOP has a good ideology; Nixon was one man. Likewise, the Democrats have a good ideology, and has had its share of "questionable" souls. Personally, I put LBJ out as an example.
The country needs both parties; somewhere in the compromises, we find an acceptable path. We only go skewed when both the Congress and the White House are dominated with the same party, as in the first six years of President George W. Bush.
If a good Republican candidate presents him- or herself, I will vote for that person. Likewise, if a good Democrat emerges, I will vote for that candidate. Unfortunately, the way the field seems to be currently emerging, I'll vote for Alfred E. Newman.
Just a note to Rudy 2008: I believe Andrew Johnson was a Republican. Johnson became president after Abraham Lincoln, a Republican, was assassinated. Johnson made the "foolish" attempt to carry on Lincoln's policy toward the South: "Malice toward none; charity for all."

If ya look at the stats, the states with the most college grads all voted for Gore and Kerry. Which leaves an explanation of , the USA is a majority of gullible, uneducated nitwits. Although Gore did win the majority of the USA's citizen's votes. They did catch GOP simpithizers trying to hide Democratic votes in King County, WA and the midwest and south are far more corrupt than WA state. Think about it. The rightwing likes to say Carter was bad. Well, he wasn't a lying smartmouthed punk like GWB. Carter just was too pacifistic to be a president, that was his only fault.

Weird how the only 2 presidents to face impeachment were both Democrats! Andrew Johnson was impeached in 1868
Bill Clinton was impeached on December 19, 1998 by the House of Representatives
FYI: Many mistakenly assume Richard Nixon was impeached. While the House Judiciary Committee did approve articles of impeachment against him (by wide margins) and did report those articles to the full House, Nixon resigned prior to House consideration of the impeachment resolutions.

Well becaue the Democrats are filled with scumbags too. Look at Clinton and Kennedy. The only thing different with Kennedy was he was not caught like Nixon.
As for Nixon, he has done more as a President than any recent Democrats. He created the EPA, OSHA, made the dollar free floating and took us out of the Vietnam war, all things the Democrats now support. What great thing has any one done since?

At least Nixon was never a member of the Ku Klux Klan. Unlike long-time democratic Senator Robert Bird (brain) of West Viriginia.

You forget that one of the greatest presidents in modern times, since FDR - Ronal Reagan, a converted Democrat to Republican was after Nixon. We also had Jimmy Carter, perhaps the worst president in a century, and then we had the womanizer, what was his name, Clinton. What more needs to be said?

Carter was such a horrible president, a monkey could have ran against him and would've won. As a matter of fact, that is just what happened. Needless to say, Bush Jr has broken Carter's world record for incompetence.
