bother even being here? Do people really have such a great need to have their own opinion reinforced by blocking dissenters?

It's ridiculous. And some of these Top Contributors who
have made their Q&A's private is even more absurd.
Really, how much are they contributing, if no one can
see their stuff?!

I'm with Chi Guy, I've seen people block someone, then
have the audacity to answer their question. It must make
them feel like they're getting away with bullying, but in
reality, they just appear to be Idiots.

Well like I said before I blocked quite a lot people but don't think I blocked ALL conservatives or anyone who disagrees with me
Really,I have conservatives as contacts and even more I didn't block.I got your very negative comment when you first asked about the blocking but let me try to explain.
Why would I want to hear from people who ONLY come with insults or the same answer to every question? Not an answer with an insult but ONLY the insult.Unfortunately they are with a lot.I have no need for answers that tell me i shouldn't be here or tell me to "go back to needle park in Amsterdam"
Some people consider it avoiding debate if you close your mail.
I think it's very hard to judge someone elses situation when you haven't walked in their shoe's;
If the blocking was as you describe and I'm sure some will use it like that(some people are like that) then I would agree with the rest of your statements.
I don't agree because it's not like that.My mail is open for any discussion

It's not the content of the questions or the answers that I block. It is the trolls who come on here making really stupid remarks and questions having nothing to do with anything. They don't have the mental ability to actually form a relevant question, no matter how dumb, nor can they formulate an answer to a reasonable question.

They refer to sex, nazis, hitler, racism, hate and the content of their question has no answer. Silly questions like how much lubricant do I need to:----------- fill in the blanks.

It's bad enough scrolling through the uninformed Q & A's without having to scroll a person who has the brain power of a cockroach and his mind never rises above his belt buckle.

yep... it's just like Fox News....

surround yourself with similar thinking people so you never have to "hear the other side"...

that way you're always right...

but it is kind of "go against the whole idea of what's the point is"...

EDIT: the only thing I fear is that by blocking out dissenters... people unfamiliar with politics that wonder in here will take that a "no one can even argue against the idea" mandate that the questioner is correct in what ever assertion he/she is making... when in fact, the questioner only blocked all dissenters...

I even have not at all blocked anybody, inspite of how asinine i think their question or answer is, a individual has the final to loose speech. I even have on social gathering pronounced a query or answer yet no longer for his or her opinion yet for nasty vile rant. interior an analogous understand I even have been pronounced on some events as a rule through no longer giving the beautiful little answer they needed, to boot as appealed the deltion and won. it relatively is particularly cowardly while a individual has diverse money owed and flow with the aid of and comments human beings and or block human beings to avert a difference of opinion.

Yes, I just got blocked by a freak. I don't care, I won't block him. We all have the right to express our opinions and people who don't like that shouldn't be here.

I blocked 3 people today (for the first time)- but only because they blocked me first. I will only block if a person blocks me. That simple.

Just to keep things "fair and balanced".

I feel that if anyone is willing to give their own opinion they better be prepared to hear what other people have to say. No matter if it is positive or negative. If they hear the other person out than it might turn into a learning session. I think for one to grow they have to learn.

I've blocked a couple of morons who I suspect are serial violation reporters. I have mixed feelings about the block thing.

I could care less, personally.

Most of the users who have blocked me used to spend their time stalking and reporting me.

But I do think this is a bad policy for Yahoo. If I was in advertising, I would want free speech to be one of my selling points.
