I know that Ferrets (pet) are illegal to have in the State of California, but how come pet stores in California sell Ferret items? Can someone explain this to me?
When I was in high school, I had a girl friend who had a pet ferret only because one of her neighbors couldn't take care of it anymore and she lived in California, but was able to keep the ferret. Are we allowed to have ferret as pets even though it's illegal in Calfornia? I'm a bit confused.

People who keep ferrets as pets in California are doing so illegally. If/when caught by the authorities the ferrets are confiscated. For more information see these sites....

It is illegal to own or sell ferrets in CA. The petstores sell ferret items because they know thousands of people are breaking the law and owning them anyway! It is a stupid law with stupid reasons behind it.
