You really need to know what you are talking about before putting forth something like this. Ford got his job because Spiro Agnew had to resign as Vice President. He is the only Vice President and President appointed to the office.

Far as the pardon of Nixon. That was needed to put the Watergate Scandal behind the American public and move the country forward. This way President Ford could address the many other important issues surrounding the country at that time.

Some lines from the site below:
There were the challenges of mastering inflation, reviving a depressed economy, solving chronic energy shortages, and trying to ensure world peace.
The President acted to curb the trend toward Government intervention and spending as a means of solving the problems of American society and the economy. In the long run, he believed, this shift would bring a better life for all Americans.
As President, Ford tried to calm earlier controversies by granting former President Nixon a full pardon.

He may have not been the 'greatest' President but was the right man at the right time in America's history to handle the job. He healed the country.

Well take into consideration the era, the Country needed to heal and was not going too with the possible impeachment over our heads. It would have been catastrophic for our country if we had a impeachment for the first time in history, especially for something like that. We were at the closing of a war, economic crisis and this would have simply compounded the issue. I think he did the right thing. Why was Clinton let off so easily? the cigar issue was just the tip of the iceburg for him, what about the fact he Knew where Bin Lauden was and how much of a threat he was and still did nothing. I could go on and on, but I won't. Being a President is not a easy job, you get a lot of crap from the media these days that are just not true or misconstrued on purpose. You and I will never really know what happened, but know this; you will know what the media wants you to know and think whether it be tru or not.

No. Ford became Vice President before the pardon was even on the table. You need to review your history. I was a Reagan supporter in '76 because I did not think Ford could win. But every day you keep more of your money because Ford vetoed over 50 tax and spend bills proposed by the Dems. He still is saving US citizens a bunch of money, and I appreciate that. Ford was a good legislator, but not a strong leader. And what we need now is leadership.

You don't know nothing. The term "neo-con" did not exist in the 1970's.
A president can pardon anyone for anything. It is his right as president.
A president can only be impeached for what the Constitution allows: high crimes and misdemeanors.
There was no basis for impeaching Mr. Ford.
Study the Constitution. It's all in there.

While I generally agree with you, I think that Nixon should have been thoroughly investigated DESPITE the pardon. If evidence then supported your contention, then certainly Ford should have also been investigated and possibly impeached. Let's focus on impeaching Bush and Cheney before they do any more damage.

No, we need episodes like that to rally the democrats out of their apathy and go vote. There are many more registered democrats than republicans yet republicans have held the Presidency way longer than democrats. Democrats generally only win presidential elections after we have had such a terrible republican president we can't stand another right away. The dems will win the next presidential election and probably lose it in 2012 when Jeb runs. It seems our country can't stand real leadership and constantly vote in a bunch of losers.

No, little boy, he became president, because he was the vice-president. That is the way the chain of command works.

The President can pardon anyone he wants, unless they have committed treason.

Unfortunately you can't impeach someone after he's out of office, much less after he's dead. What we should do is make sure Bush, Cheney, and Administration never get pardoned. That will reverse the Ford precedent.

Wrong. Nixon was only guilty for attempting to cover up something that he didn't ask for. As a President and if he were alive today, I'd vote for him again. :)

I'm ready for my numerous thumbs down, now.
