The name CAROLINA is a girl's name with the meaning(s): Beautiful Woman, feminine form of Carlo (Charles) meaning manly, and is Latin in origin.
The Latin, Italian, Spanish and Portuguese vowel "i" is always pronounced like the English "ee" as in the word "see". It is not pronounced like the English "ie" as in the word "lie".
It is now a very popular female first name in the USA.
Both pronunciations are correct. I would pronounce it "Ca-ro-lee-na" but how one should/would pronounce it, would depend on personal preference.

Car-o-lie-na would be my first instinct because of the states. I also like this pronunciation better.
But, Ca-ro-lee-na is also acceptable. I know someone by this name who pronounces it this way.
