my brother just got bit by a black widow what do we do???? please help A.S.A.P.!!! thank you sooooooo much!!

The options for home care are somewhat limited. Both cold and warm compresses have been recommended, as have hot baths. Certainly, a hot bath would seem to be of value because the pain is due primarily to muscle spasm. Obviously, over-the-counter pain relievers such as acetaminophen and ibuprofen may be of value in mild cases. Folk remedies have not proven to work, so i would take him to the hospital!! asap!! Peace!!

Emergency roommmmm NOWWWWWWW! My aunt was bitten by a brown recluse and she had to have part of her leg removed. I think Black Widows are a little more dangerous!

Its reputation exceeds its bite. If your brother is 3 or younger, or frail and elderly, this might be a true emergency, but otherwise, just call your doctor's office (yes, even on the weekend) and ask if they need to see him. If not, ask what treatment they recommend.
