We think they can't understand us. It's usually the same voice you use when talking to a disabled person. e

We talk to pets like we talk to baby humans and researchers have discovered that the higher pitch and sing-song intonation instinctively used with babes actually helps them distinguish the indiividual words and makes it easier to learn human speech.
