i'm kinda uncomfortable w/ touching people, so therefore i don't hug.
but when i'm forced to, i lean in and totally not use my hips. usually the people that make me hug them, are my family, and that would jus be a little uncomfortable hugging them w/ my hips. lol

If it's an "awkward hug", it's all arms.
If it's for a familiar friend or someone I want to hug, I definitely use hips.
