This is a very difficult question to answer. I don't agree that they should be charged accordingly though. The night it happened was the start of their sentence already.
No, they shouldn't have been that far away from their kids, but i'm sure most of us have let our kids out of our sight for maybe only 5 minutes, and 5 minutes is all it would take for a planned and ruthless kidnapping of such innocence. I watched a man talking on the news who interviews paedophiles, and he basically asked one of them how a mother could stop a paedophile from getting their child, He answered that the only place a child is safe is in their mother's womb!
We are only blaming the parents because we've got no one else to blame.....yet, hopefully.
I wasn't even aware, until all of this started, at what an easy time these kinds of sick b******s have after being convicted! Why are so many allowed to even see daylight again?Definately bring back hanging for those cases where substantial DNA evidence etc is collected.
This has affected millions of people, but none moreso than the McCanns. And anyway, if they were charged, what would then happen to Maddie's brother and sister?

It's sad to say this, but right now the parents are being treated as if they are the victims. It's their poor little daughter who is the victim twice over. The first being, having parents who are so self centered and irresponsible. The second being, the possible victimization from her supposed abductor.

If they did not want to be responsible for their children on a trip or at any other time, they should have either not had any, or pad for a traveling nanny, or paid the hotel for their nanny services. It's not like they don't have the money {going on an around the world trip} and all. They are guilty of neglect! And even if they never have to pay for their actions through the judicial system, God has a way of making sure you account for your action, and hopefully learn something good from the negative.

Great Question!!!

Yes they should return right now, but they are not going to interrupt their holiday just like that. They probably have more places to go to and things to do. If they were charged with child neglect they may not get out again.

I think they should be charged with Neglect. Whilst I hope that little Madeline is found safe and well - and soon, the fact remains that if the parents hadn't left 3 extremely young children in a room on their own this wouldn't have happened.

I have wondered if that is why they are so reluctant to come back to the UK.

you`ve asked the question thats on every ones lips. I have children of my own and i know for damn sure i would never leave them in a strange apartment abroad let alone their own house or familiar surroundings for some dirty paedophile to snatch them, they had no caring, respect or conscience of well being for their children when they went out on the lash that night.

They haven't broken UK law, so they will not be charged with anything in this country.
