don't you think that he might save face just a little before he's out of office? At least he would be remembered by many for something positive. Do you think that that's even been suggested to him by his people?

God, alone, talks to Bush (according to him)...Who knows what God has said to him now. The man is an idiot...sorry--just my thoughts.

I believe that the day may be soon upon us when the republican party is smart enough to cast out the far right but it will not be until after the 2008 election. The biggest thing we can do is keep them from invading the democratic party which is allready trying to build a reputation as being god fearing also. While I may be unpopular for saying this bill clinton did a lot for funding churches with tax breaks and jimmy carter was elected by the right before the big switch to the republican party.I don't believe anybody's going to do much at the federal level for gay marriage watch and support it at the state level and hope somebody is smart enough to start working on the states that the anti gay marriage amendments were past in.Many were overreaching and ended rights for domestic partnerships and harmed the elderly as well as young heterosexual couples with dependent children. Those are states worth pursueing and non gays have a reason to support overuling them as they didn't fully understand what they were voting for.A good question but one that Bush wouldn't even begin to consider Chaney maybe but good luck trying to pin him to anything.

not to even address the question of whether or not Bush should give GLBT the right to marry, I have to say that the one thing that I have to respect about Bush is that he always sticks to what he believes is right. That is the only reason why I can come up with for the 'things' he supports and controls in his presidency. So if he stops standing up for the 'things' that he does and he starts to do stuff that would just make him look better from a historical perspective, then I would be completely disillusioned.

And we wouldn't want that - would we?

I would appreciate it if he did, but I don't think the majority of Americans would. But in a couple hundred years, when the world is a more enlightened place, he might be remembered by the history books as having done *something* brave and right.

I don't think Bush will do anything to make himself look good before he leaves office. Most likely he'll just do something even worse, as he doesn't seem to care about us or anyone else.. just his money and what he can obtain from oil and the war. It would be awesome if he would allow gay marriage. However he hates us, so I think you are being optimistic, and I always try to be. But the man hates us... Thanks. :)

Bush doesn't have the desire to do anything FOR the GLBT community, he's as much of a bigot as the rest of the RRR.

Bush doesn't have the power anymore, nor the desire to do this. He might close Gitmo and he might start another war, both as attempts to raise his poll numbers, but he would never do anything to help the gays.

He is more concerned about keeping the Extreme Right Wing Evangelicals and Catholics voting for him, and they would hang him if he did anything to help the people that they are obsessed with hating.

I highly doubt he would ever sink that low just to gain a few fans..there are more important things for him to deal with.

I'm not sure there is much he can do to save face at all! he's even got Republicans turning on him...
It would be nice if he did such a thing....but we know that will never happen with him....

Although he might do something for us, I don't think he'll go that far. he may sign a bill allowing gays in the military, but may not see much more than that, although i think it would be in his best interest
