I believe there is something I can check on my pc ??

are you talking about dsl or cable broadband? In some modems the have a gui (graphic user interface) that you can log into and check the snr (signal to noise ratio) and the attenuation or amount of pressure its is taking to push that signal thru. You would want the snr to be higher and atten to be lower. That is if your talking about dsl and the actual signal strength to the modem itself, and not just speed.

You should be able to see a signal strenght meter on your wireless connector.

If you dont have a little wireless computer in the lower right hand corner. just go to control panel networks and click the wireless adapter. It should show a signal strength.

not 100% but can depend on provider and also how far away from the bt exchange you are
