Why did Michael Jacks om completely ruin his "good" looks?

Well, whether he ever had good looks is in the eyes of the beholder; however, to do numerous bleach treatments is an "illness." A part of me feels sad for the confused chap.

Thank you, Sanjaya-Blows, for the information on his skin condition. I would like to add that Michael was burned during the filming of a Pepsi commercial and this might also have caused scarring or bleaching.

That does not change his own desire to be white which is probably rooted in the abuse he faced as a child. How far that abuse went we'll never know, but I suspect his sexual behavior and his rejection of his father both have to do with a trip to Italy when he approaching puberty. It was the only place in Europe where a castrati operation could be legally done to preserve his voice.

I do know the Jackson Five fired their father as their manager during that tour of Europe.

Michael Jackson is a sad individual who was never given the chance to have a normal life. Let's remember him for some outstanding videos (Thriller, Bad, and Norma Jean).

By the way, I don't believe he molested that last boy and I'm fairly sure he didn't do the first. Too many discrepancies in the stories. And, if he is a castrati, he probably has no interest in sex anyway.

It all stems from his early childhood when he was young, his father, Joseph who managed the Jackson 5 in the early days would verbally abuse Michael, by making him feel insecure about his looks and physical features.

Hence, the reason why Michael has undergone so many plastic surgery procedures through out the years.

I don't think (we) will ever understand what he has experienced and gone through with his father, Joseph because they never had a good Father and Son relationship in the first place.

(I suppose Michael is still looking for a perfection)

others do it all the time, America thrives & demands image & perfection.
maybe being unable to change the inner michael jackson sad lil
man with a unsavoury interest in young boys, he did the next best thing & changed the external image.
the up-keep of these many surgical ops, will make him hide away in fear, who's paying for it, now?
last i heard he was about or had converted to Islam, was building a mosque in Bahrain & had sold anything worthwhile, still owing money to many, many people.
without money his Face will start to fail.

The only partially correct answer on here so far is from bubbles.

Michael was abused as a child by his father and was constantly told that he had a large nose. Being self-critical of himself later in life, he had a nose operation to make it as thin as possible (although it doesn't even look human anymore, it looks like pinched play-doh at the tip).

Also, Michael, being an african american male has a rare skin disease called Vitiligo. About 1 in every 100 people have it. The disease does not allow the skin to pigment in certain areas, hence it remains un-colored (white). While areas within the affected areas CAN pigment, it usually ends up looking spotty, like a leopard. Since it stands out prominantly on a black person than it does a white person, it's even more embarassing.

The disease is not cureable yet. There are only two methods of treatment that I'm aware of. The first, topical creams which only prevent the further spread of the disease but does not diminish what is already affected, and the second is a skin bleaching treatment, by pill. This makes your skin turn white and lose its color. Your eyes become sensitive to light and you must wear special uv filtering glasses to block the sun from your eyes. Then, you get heat lamp treatments to try to evenly tan all of your skin at once. This seems to be the treatment Michael went with as his skin is now white instead of dark.

I have the disease myself but neglected the skin bleaching treatment at a young age for fear of rejection from peers and/or being made fun of. The creams helped stop the spread but did not diminish the affected areas, and since it was like using vaseline on your skin everyday, I got tired of using that as well. I don't care anymore I just live with it, but I'm not african american either so it must be that much harder for him to live with.

Not sure, but his Martin Bashir interview seems to hint at some form of body dysmorphia syndrome (where low self esteem makes you see yourself as ugly, and pursue an unattainable ideal of perfection). Plus he probably had advisors and hangers on who were constantly blowing sunshine up his **** and telling him how great he looked.

He was obsessed with his sister, Janet Jackson! And wanted to look like her. He totally lost himself in the process. I remember what a darling little boy he was when The Jackson Five were singing! I think he lost his manhood in the process of the plastic surgery and the need to become his sister.
