They were made in '69 & '70...replaced the older YG5's

100cc horizontal Rotary Valve 2 stroke,,Dual-Range 4speed gearbox,12 volt Electric Start "Trail Bike"

Competition for Honda's "CT 90 aka Trail 90"

They were very good lil' bikes in their day for what they were.

And Popular too.

Yamaha had introduced it's "Enduro" Series in '68 w/a 250,,,then a 125 the next year..

Weird to imagine nowdays,,,but Yamaha and "the Market" in late 60's/early 70's somehow Made a Distinction between Trail & Enduro.

As Much of a Hit as the new Enduro Series was in Popularity,,,Yamaha carried over the L5's thru the 1st year they introduced their new 90cc Enduro.
And sold 'em all,,
people Liked and wanted L5 Style Trail Bikes.

Thats not much to go on at all!!..you should be able to look at the bike and see if its a 2 or 4 stroke and the engine size..might help narrow things down a bit

is it a road or dirt bike? the engine capacity is usually found on the bottom of the barrel where it joins the gearbox.
