Some students do complete high school in three years.

In addition to the total credits required, certain courses in addition to the four years of English are required and you would have to make sure to take all of them.

You can take two English classes in the same year - usually this would be English III and IV..

I spent eight years counseling high school students and was always happy to help an outstanding and mature student who wanted to finish in three years. See your counselor for advice.

One drawback to finishing in three years is if, having skipped a grade or two in grade school, you are very young. It takes a certain level of maturity to cope with the complexities of college. If you are quite social, it might bother you in later years not to have graduated with your class.

Best of luck to you as you plan for the future!

JTL,

If you only need 40 credits to graduate, you can get them all in six months and be on your way!

Your question suggests you need to stay in high school, especially for English classes.

If 80 x 4 = 320 and you need 1,280 credits to graduate, how would you graduate in less than four years?

If you can run at a constant speed of 10 mph, how long will it take you to run from your high school to your house?

You didn't say how many credits you need to graduate, so my assumption aout needing 1,280 credits to graduate is entirely reasonable. In my quesion, there is no answer unless I tell you how far your house is from your high school. If your house is 10 miles away from the school, it should take you exactly one hour to run home. If your house is only five miles from your school, it should take you only one-half hour to run home.... Right?

Not necessarily!

I said, "If [IF] you can [CAN] run at a constant speed of 10 mph.... "

What if you CAN'T run at a constant speed of 10 mph? What if you CAN run at that speed but choose not to do so?

You will have a lot of fun in life if you pay close attention to what people say and write. You can always bust their chops. As long as you're just having fun (and they're also having fun) you don't need to worry.

Most schools will allow you to take things like English (subject that are required for "4 years") if you take them concurrently one year. Most states also allow for students to graduate early if they pass all of the required credits and a test (depending on the state). My sister graduated a semester early and began college courses before she had her high school diploma. Talk to your counselor and post-grad department before making any final decisions.
