I actually lived in a place where they did not use pennies. Prices were still given in cents and charged that way, so it was still priced $.99, but you paid a dollar. But if the price was $1.01, you paid a dollar.

For single items with the typical $x.99 pricing, you lose a penny to the store each time, but with purchase of multiple items, it pretty much evened out and everyone was happy to not have to deal with pennies.

It was really great.

UP of course. I think that we shouldn't get rid of it but since the price of making a penny is worth more than a penny then I guess we have to. So, 99 cents store would turn into $1.00 store.
