Unless you can get a contract before hand with several pet stores for more than one year in your area I would say, "NO WAY!" You will end up with hamsters all over the place and nothing to do with them and you won't want to kill them so they will just keep multiplying.
Listen to your Mom....she knows best in this case...believe me!

The job of a breeder is the better the type of animal they are breeding. A good breeder has knowlege of genetics (ie- recessive traits, genetic illnesses, etc) You cannot simply buy two hamster and allow them to breed. You need to purchase these animals from other breeders who have the background info on the hamster for generations back. Lets say you go to a pet store and buy a hamster(its friendly, active, healthy, etc), and you breed it a few times. If a year down the road that hamster developes a tumor, all the babies now have a likelyhood of developing cancer(it in their genes). Breeders will choose animals that are free of defects, illnesses, etc and have been for generations. This ensures that the breed is better for thier efforts.
In order to breed you need a variety of breeding stock, one male and one female will not be enough. A female should have a few weeks rest in between pregnancies to regain strenghth, etc.
If something goes wrong does you daughter have the time, money, knowledge to care for the babies. What if the mother rejects the babies. What if the mother/babies are sick, does she have the $$$ for a vet?
What will you do with the babies once you have them? How many friends really want gifts of hamsters? How would you sell the babies? Can you bear the emotional strain of selling your baby hamsters that you raised and love to perfect strangers and possibly never seeing them again? How many generations can you keep before your family/landlord/neighbors/local health inspector call a halt to your breeding practices? How many hamsters can you care for? At what point would they become a burden rather than a joy?
Can she handle losing the mother if something goes wrong with the birth? Will she be upset if the mother dies?
Is she prepared to spend more than she makes from selling them? Most breeders(of any animal) do not make big bucks and if they are then they are skimping on some of the care.
I suggest a good way of letting it hit home is through showing her the cost. Most children do not have the funds to breed correctly.
General costs
4 hamster ($10-20 each) - $40-$80
4 seperate cages(they cannot be housed together when not breeding) - $80
Quality food (fresh veggies/vitamins) $10 a month
Bedding $10 a month for all cages
Accesories(water bottles, bowls, toys) $50
Vet Care - $200
and the expenses continue if you cannot find homes for the babies, you'll then need more cages, food, etc.

NO Breeding ANY animals
Reason #1
Take her to the local animal shelter , litterally hundreds of animals ( dogs cats, bunnies , hamsters others that are homeless , are KILLED daily. Her breeding animals will only be killing more of them in the long run - even if they are only hamsters.
#2
Pet stores are HORRIBLE places - they buy sell ill animals - the ones her friends sell - if to a pet store sadly are only fed to other animals for lunch.. Its not a nice life Plus breeding hamsters like ones in the stores -- most of the store hamsters are all related , hence health isses, temperment issues...
3- hamsters bunnies etc breed at ALARMING rate & interbreed with out disgression - with in a few weeks you could have 20 hamsters then if 5 of those get pregenant you'd have 40 so on & so on ....
4 - if she wants to PIMP animals - basically what she wants to do ,tell her NO -it's wrong - it's wrong in himans animals -- Animals DO have feelings & she has to learn that.
I still HIGHLY reccomend her going to the pound though - it may upset her but sooner or later espically if she won't listen to you, she has to know the truth , an consiquences of such things, as well as how people should respect animals.
good luck

The reason why no body wants to buy her friends baby rabbits and hamsters is because there is a pet over population. Your daughter should not breed her hamster because there is a pet over population. I would suggest taking your daughter to the animal shelter and explain to her why there are so many pets there and also explain to her the harsh reality that if a pet doesnt get adopted within a certain amount of time the get euthanized (put to sleep). That should make her not want to breed her hamsters.
Also you are the mom, you need to take charge and tell her no means no!

If ask a mother, you can make her listen to you, I doubt others can make her listen either. Anyway, try to use human being as an example. Tell her, assume she is the mother who has given birth to so many babies, will she sell her babies? I am sure she will say NEVER. Same thing, tell her, you love her very much and as a mother, you will always want to be with her. She will feel how wrong it is to break apart a happy "family". Human are living things. Hamster are living things. They are all the same. Furthermore, hamster has only 2 years of lifespan. Is she going to be so nasty as to sell away babies for that few bucks and to see babies go motherless and live in suffering for the remaining 2 years, and provided they can survive for the full 2 years. I have hamsters before and they died within a year. Just imagine if they are without parent at birth. How sad that will be. So, do explain to your child and teach her how to love animals. The future is theirs. If they can sell helpless little creatures, God knows what will happen to them when they grew up. God Knows.... !!!!! º¿º

Go to www.hamsters.co.uk/ for more breeding info. They need to have separate cages, and be prepared for a lot of fighting. They are only put together for a very short time to breed, then apart again. The female must be left alone for 2 weeks or she'll probably kill the babies. She can have up to 10 or more babies. They will all have to have their own cages. Adult hamsters will try to kill each other. They are cheap, so people can get them anywhere easily. You won't make much money at all. Is it worth all this???
