I just bought a Cow Fish and im wondering if a Green Mandarin Goby would be a good tank mate for him. If not, are there any other fish that would be good partners? I know about the toxins that the cow fish give out, so im looking for a small calm partner that wont stress the cow out.

I would steer you away from mandarins (actually a dragonette, rather than a goby). They're cool looking fish, and certainly peacefull enough, but they don't take well to captive foods (almost need a continuous supply of live copepods), and they usually starve in an aquarium. Not good, considering they seem to produce a toxin in their slime coat when they die, and can wipe out the other members of their tank.

Other types of bottom gobies (clown, watchman) would be okay with him.

www.marinedepotlive.com/green-mandarin-goby---pterosynchiropus-splendidus-fish--dragonettes.html

The Pterosynchiropus splendidus is a carnivore and likes to eat Mostly copepods in well established tanks. Most will learn to accept mysis shrimp and flakes as well as brine shrimp especially if they are captive bred. Mine eat brine and pellets and do well in the tank now for a few years.

Cow fish will and can go well with your green goby. Is it a longhorn or a camel?
I am going to assume it is a longhorn. Remember a few things, fish smaller than they are have the risk of being eaten, secondly you can only keep one at a time unless you know for sure one is male and one is female. Carbon filter or the ability to add carbon to the tank is a must. In case of injury or death the carbon will pull the toxins from teh water.

However if you are talking about a normal box fish labled as a cow, they are quite peaceful and eat veggies not meat. Be sure of the type of fish also the regular box cow is a community fish and will do well with non agressive feeders.

particular, clownfish can stay with mandarin gobies. inspite of the undeniable fact that, to maintain mandarin gobies effectively, you pick an extremely super and mature tank with a brilliant number of stay rock, and ideally a refugium with extra stay rock as properly. by utilizing a mature tank, I mean one that has been up and working for no less than 2 years. the reason you pick all it is that the mandarin gobies' crucial foodstuff is copepods and different tiny animals that stay interior the stay rock. they don't do properly on any of the favored fish meals, in the event that they'll eat them in any respect. various the mandarin gobies human beings purchase starve to demise, because of the fact they right now eat each and each of the foodstuff organisms they locate interior the tank, and then they waste away. this is totally unhappy.
