We live in different states , it's long story as to why, but he hasn't done his share, and I have been raising the daughter we had together alone for 10 years and I am tired from all of the work. would requesting a court order for maid service cut though the red tape?

That would be strange. I live in a different state from my daugther's father. I had to request child support in the state he lives in. If he wants to see her he has to go to court in the state I live in.

Well chances are if you can't get an order for Child support, what chances do you have for a maid? We don't call maids, maids anymore, a more appropriate term would be housekeeper. Why can't your daugher help with the housework? Wouldn't the courts think you are an un fit mother, if you just want to give up cleaning your house? I commend you for taking care of your daughter for 10 years, but the housework never goes away, and if you want your house to be clean, do it your self, so you can spend extra money having fun with your daugther. Stop complaining. You made the decision to divorce your spouse wether or not Child support funds were there. A maid will not solve your problems you are trying to avoid. I am sure lots of people wish they had a housekeeper, including myself! But I don't. First of all, No--don't ask for him to pay for maid service. That is ridiculous. I know its tiring being a single mother, believe me I KNOW. However, someone below commented that child support is not required until there is a court order. NOT TRUE. Take his *** to court. Or if you don't have the resources for an attorney, contact the attorney general. File a child support enforcement case with them. They can garnish his wages to ensure you are receiving child support as well as medical insurance for your child. That is the law whether his dead beat *** likes it or not. If he doesn't pay they will take it from any tax refund he gets from the IRS. If he doesn't file taxes, they will throw his sorry butt in jail. Trust me--been there, done that--seen and been through it all. He helped create the child--MAKE him help support it, at least financially. Best of luck. PS--if you take him to court you can get them or order that he pay the arrears for child support and health insurance. Don't let him get away with what he is doing.

What are you talking about? If you ask for stupid crap it's just going to be denied in a second. You should be able to go down, get a court date and get this settled quickly. 10 years is far too long to drag out. He doesn't OWE support until a court order for support is in place. You won't see a dime from the previous 10 years.

This is a joke right?
If you didn't get a court order for child support they gave you a reason that reason unless things have changed is still going to apply and abusing the court system and costing more to the tax payers for a most definite waste of time is not the way to influence enemy's or gain friends.

He doesn't have to pay for maid service for you. I suggest lighting a fire under your lawyer's butt to get him to go after the child support that is owed. Garnish his wages, with hold any income tax refunds. The fact that you've been raising your daughter alone doesn't warrant maid service.

??????? The only way the court did not order child support is because there was no proof he was the father or assumed father of your child. If there was you would have been awarded support. No judge would ever grant janitorial support. This question makes no frickin sense.
