Big Tobacco, BIg Oil, Big Pharma. What next? What are you people who use these terms gonna do when you regulate and tax them out of existence? Complain because nobody is there to supply you with the products you want? What happens when these companies leave the US and we no longer have the tax base and the people who were employed by them? What happens then, huh?

Did I say anything about misdeeds not being criticized? Pick one and you have my attention. Otherwise it is demonixing an entire industry. Talk about generalizations!

They are an easy target. People constatly look to blame others for their own pain, misery or failure. It's the "It is their fault syndrome".
Folks who scream about Corporate Welfare, don't even know what the term means, yet throw it around like it is fact.
The feeling of "Their must be a conspiracy, because they make money" is ludicrous as it is untrue.
People do not realize that 65% of workers ar employed by a company of 50 or fewer employees. www.sba.com.
And the feeling of Bush is for Corporations, or Clinton was for Corporations makes me laugh.
The fact is that the treatment of Corporations has been the same. .
Under Clinton, they had higher tax rates, yet many more loopholes. Under Bush, the tax rate is lower, but there are far fewer loopholes. www.irs.com.

One of your answers proves that point..."Oil Companies make 110 Billion Dollar Profit". Is that a crime??? Hell Microsoft has been over charging for years.....

I insist on demonizing Big Business because it is inherently evil. By its very nature it undermines capitalism by squashing competition. Corporations were originally groups who got together for a specific work, then disbanded-they did things like building a bridge, then went on their way. That was corrupted into Business corporations that use it as a way to unethically combine forming monopolies and oligopolies that have nearly limitless control of a single market (ie. Oil, autos, drug companies). Theyre then protected by laws originally meant to apply to the individual rather than business entities.

The worst part of all this though, is that to maintain their hold in their industry they are forced to buy their way into politics. Big Business and closet politics go hand and hand and have forever. Whenever they get too much power the people lost all voice in the gov't.

The services can stay without the Huge industry, they existed before them.

Edit:: Ken, nice statistic. How many of those 65% are like me. Im employed by a company of less than 20 people that is a wholy owned subsidiary of another company of a couple thousand that a sub of ... on up the line to one of the largest in the country. The state then contracts the tiny company that I work for which shows their support for small business.

Bunz: Agriculture is a problem, no question there. But saying that the people are hypocritical is not helping as the people arent-theyre uneducated. Dem politicians have done a great job of not letting people know that in FL the sugar industry uses people as essentially slave labor just like the beef industry does out West. You cant blame the people for this though, it isnt reported in the papers, politicians and corporations spend millions keeping it quiet. Put the blame where it belongs, on the politicians-of both parties since the GOP isnt out there letting it be known (because it would hurt them as well and theyre not about to hurt the DNC if it will hurt them also) and the industry itself, not the people who are merely uninformed.

For the liberal democrats this is only an issue during Conservative or Republican administrations` ! The liberals don`t really want them to go away during their time in office , as they can tax the crap out of them , and pile on the welfare benefits to keep the bottom feeders voting for them !. They don`t want any opposing party to have the same benefit of using the tax to promote their agenda !!The liberals have to have something or someone to blame whatever the problem of the day is on ! The underlying reason the liberal elite doesn`t want these companies to be successful is the fact that someone other than them that takes monetary risk with their capital to try and increase their wealth through the opportunities that capitalism offers can be their equal !! A liberal believes that you cannot be successful on your own ; without them being involved in your life you are a failure ! Ever stop to think what amount of tax is on your gallon of gas ? Usually in the 75 cent to 1 dollar range ! Same for all the other items they have brainwashed you into believing that they are the evil ones by daring to charge you $3.00 for a gallon of gas when in fact 30% of the cost is tax so they can continue to run their "tax & spend machine" to provide benefits and handouts so they can say , see ; if you vote for me , I will continue to get you all these "free" things and you won`t even have to work in most cases!!!

Do you think it is good that Big oil made 110 billion in profits
and recieved like 24 billion in tax breaks.
Do you think it is good that we pay much more for prescription drugs because of lobbist.
Do you think it is good that Big tobacco lied about the cancer causing effects of cigarettes and dumped the results on the taxpayers.

There is nothing wrong with big business. They just have to be good citizens. When they are raping the public for profit
that is a different story.
By the way child most of the big companies in this country have already left the US.

It's not industry which are the demons. It's the greedy, reckless individuals who run them who too frequently are. The recent past is replete with examples of why this is true. If these men and women are so concerned about saving their companies from ruin, then why don't they slash their own far too generous salaries, perks and bonuses? Many, if not most of them, are paid way out of line with their accomplishments. Even when their companies are failing, many continue to give themselves huge salary packages and perks, which is totally contrary to the precepts of business and industry. I'm sorry, but you will find no sympathetic ear here to the plight of industrial bigwigs. They aren't worth the time of day.

look up industrial revolution first...

then look up what's going on in Mexico, the phillipines and pretty much every other third world country in the world...

many already have left... and you're cheering them on with this question...

why do companies NEVER have any "patriotism" and why does the right feel it's PERFECTLY FINE for them to run out of the U.S. as soon as they can make 3 percent more profit? Most companies aren't "going out of business" when they leave... they just aren't "making enough money"

why is there this HUGE double standard? why is it ok to betray America for greed?

and beyond that, to answer your last question, what happens then is... we crank up the tarriffs and they either have to move back, or go out of business... since they never should have been that low in the first place...

so, they will get what they deserve... losses in the billions in the end...

If industries regulated themselves... there would never have been a need for any worker rights laws to be made...

I can't begin to properly answer this question. To do so, I would have to write a book and my guess is you wouldn't read it. But there is no doubt in my mind that such blind loyalty to these industries is dangerous and I've done the research and educated myself enough to be certain of my position.

If you want a thorough answer to this question. Research it on the internet. Only don't go at it with your present mindset. Look for reasons to prove these industries do a lot of damage to our nation. Challenge your own viewpoints and assumptions. Pretend you have to debate someone who thinks exactly as you do now. Some here don't like to challenge their viewpoints but I'm guessing you're not one of them.

Those big businesses employ a lot of people and put tons of capital into our economy! Sure, some have done some scandalous things, and I'm sure they have all cut corners and done illegal things that were never caught; but our economy depends on them!

Notice the liberals never mention large agricultural businesses supported by the dems that get all kinds of corp. welfare!

Sorry, Your question seems to imply that legitimate criticism
is "demonizing" ... none of the industries are remotely in danger of being taxed out of existence. Hyberbole and exaggeration is what I see, in fact you seem to "demonizing" legimate criticism. Also, these companies are all moving jobs overseas already to take advantage of cheap labor. It has been proven time and time again that business unchecked and unregulated leads to monopoly and abuse.

A corporation is an amoral entity whose sole purpose is to make a profit.

False premise.

People rightfully demonize the evil acts committed by some industries.

For instance, although Asbestos companies AND insurance companies recognized the extremely high mortality rate of those who worked with Asbestos, they kept their mouths shut until an investigation was launched several decades later.

Also, the infamous Enron scandal which allowed a group of multi-millionaire crooks to steal the pensions of honest, hard working people.

This questions infers that "Industries" should be afforded diplomatic immunity and allowed to operate with impunity outside of the law.
