there's myspaceIM now and im worried that some of the people in the chatrooms are pedophiles. how would they track me down? im scared really bad, and i dont wanna get off of the thing because i like it alot. i also heard on the news that 700 pedophiles got on it in the past week? what do i do besides not get off

Pedophiles wont be able to actually track you down, unless you're all up in the the chat rooms.
I don't know how old you are, but be careful with who you talk to. Don't give out ANY! personal information.

I would take off any pictures of you that identify you as part of a group (like a high school sports team or something like that). I also wouldn't give out any pictures or information that could be revealing to your location. They can use just about any bit of information they find.
Just be careful, and you'll be fine.

Just don't give out any personal information such as the city/county you live in, your last name, address, phone number, or any other means of contacting you.
I wouldn't worry about pictures. It's HIGHLY unlikely you'll be stalked based solely on a few photos.
A pedophile can't do anything to you so long if you're talking about your dog Spot or your favorite color. =/

The best thing you can do is not post your personal info on your page,or tell people (friends or myspace aquaintances) that same info as you never know who is listening.I dont have myspace myself but if anybody starts pushing for your info or tries to get you to meet them somewhere,dont,and if they are persistent,report them if the option is there

keep your private information private. i was able to find all of the kids 15-21 year olds....that were involved with paintballing my house and targeting my daughter. i found out where they lived, what cars they drove and where the parties were. the best part was that they thought they were anonymous. they usually talked about the acts the night of. i found out that they were part of a paintball 'league' on tuesdays and we were getting hit on their way home each night. we finally busted all of them, and as it happens, they also fired up the police station. most were fined and two were arrested. you know, i never even saw them do it. thank you myspace!

Just dont give out any personal information, (ie, first name, last name, address, city, zip code, etc) I put my profile on private so that they have to add me before they can see it. That way i can see who exactlys looking at my profile. :) I just turn down anyone i don't know. :D

Interesting logic you have. It is similar to saying I like to play with fire and know that it will burn me, but I don't want to stop playing with it. It is as simple as this: If you go on myspace, you are placing yourself at risk to be approached by pedophiles. It is as simple as that. If you want to avoid the risk, avoid the fire.
