I have started training for a marathon and have been running A LOT. Can so much exercise make my period late?

It's not at all uncommon for female athletes to lose their period when body fat levels drop significantly. This is called amenorrhea and is almost always experienced at some point by female long-distance runners. I didn't have a period for 7 months in my senior year of high school between running track and cross country and entering every 10k I could. Don't worry about it - enjoy it!!

I'm glad you are a virgin. It has nothing to do with exercises. It will take at least 2 years to be on a 28 day cycle. So don't worry about it. Good Luck

It depends on how extensive your exercise is, but it definitely can. Major women athletes have irregular periods, some don't get them for months.

It's not the amount of exercise that will stop your menstruation, but the lack of body fat. If your bodyfat percentage falls below a certain point, your period will stop. We see it often with athletes and anorexics. Now, we're talking below 5-8% bodyfat, here.

Yes Excercise can make your period late....but then again so can being pregnant. Go get a test honey, better to know now, then to worry abou ti.

yes. i sometimes skip months at a time. during crosscountry.
so just enjoy the lateness and good luck on your marathon.

Yes. It can cause your period to be late or you can even miss your period.

i run a lot too and drink a ton of water, it made mine late. i stopped running as much and the next month i got 2.(LOL )(which was by some weird chance. ) all your hormones change and stuff, it's fine.

It sure can !!! Exercise and drinking a lot of fluids will make it late.

Yes it can. The two major things that change menstrual cycles are exercising more or changes, and stress!
