The fiction novel that I have just finished writing is 63,300 words long. Is that too short to be published? Should it be longer?

A novel has to be over 40,000 words so yours is defiantly good, here's a list I found on absynthemuse.com

A Novel - 40,000 words or more
A Short Story - under 7,500 words
Novella - 17,500 - 40,000 words
Novelette 7,500 - 18,000 words

Depends upon the genre, but I think you're safe with that amount. Usually, novels need to be above 45,000 words. For instance, I read somewhere that mysteries should be about 75,000 but one can really go over the limit as long as it is not too overboard. Besides, when you send it in to a publisher, I guarantee you will have to do a lot of altering here and there and you will most likely have less words.

You're fine. Don't change it for the sake of words.

That's about 253 book pages. It doesn't have to be long or short, simply readable and entertaining. You want your reader to have an emotional response to your novel. Good luck!

I don't think that it really matters because there are books of all sizes and word counts out. As long as the characters and plot are all well developed that is all that matters.
