it will normally relate to a higher level of carbon monoxide, it won't damage the car, but it won't pass its MOT until it if fixed. it is best to get it sorted, although i'm not sure what is the cause of it

Not too familiar with these Frenchies. Toxic fuel? Sounds like it has a fuel sensor, newer cars do, that measures the amount of ethanol and octane levels and adjust the timing accordingly. Maybe you got a tank of high %% ethanol fuel.

i would say your catalytic converter is worn out and needs replacing if its a petrol motor
