Immigration is not a big deal. Illegal immigration is a big deal. Most Americans ancestors immigrated to this counrty from elsewhere, however, they did so legally. Illegal immigrants do not pay taxes, are a burden on the welfare system, and most importantly, are breaking the law.

Because we're a very hate-filled nation filled with bias, selfishness and bigotry. We don't want to share what we have with others. We expect - rightfully so - that those who come to live in America learn our language, abide by our laws, and pledge allegiance to our country.
Of course, our ancestors didn't bother to do that when they illegally immigrated to America. They didn't feel they had to learn the native American Indian's language. They didn't feel obligated to abide by Indian laws or tribal customs. They felt no need to pledge allegiance to the Indian's way of life, which included a belief that the land belonged to everyone and was considered sacred; which included a respect for all other living creatures and plants on Earth; or which included a simplistic brotherhood of sharing the Earth's resources with all others.
But, "that was different......" Those damn savage Indians didn't know good land grab when they saw one! Those damned Indians didn't understand the value of importing slaves that could be traded, bought and sold as personal property. Those damned Indians didn't recognize the 'fun' in shooting buffalo just for the sport of it and allowing their carcasses to rot on the great plains. Those damned Indians just didn't get it....WE were the WHITE man...WE were the superior race. WE had every right to take their land from them, put them on reservations, and squander all of this new, rich land's abundant resources! We weren't illegal immigrants who came here uninvited and simply stole the land from its rightful owners. -RKO- 06/23/07
