My ghost, dear friend, reading improves lot of things. Not only comprehension and or vocabulary, but also; increases knowledge, over all grammar, sentence phrasing, style of writing, helps in knowing new words, etc, etc.
Keep reading regularly anything....

Absolutely. How are you going to comprehend the text if you don't read it? You may have to reread something (possibly several times) to "get it," but you do need to read it to comprehend it. It's not going to "come through by osmosis."

Your vocabulary will be strengthened and expanded if you're reading, because the meaning of some words is found in context clues surrounding the word in a sentence or paragraph.

Of course it does. Vocabulary because you're getting a lot of it from the book, and comprehension (eventually) through the diligent exercising of your brain muscle. Use it or lose it, as the saying goes.

If you know what the words mean, you know what is being said. Vocabulary skills also help you with understanding words based on context. Vocabulary is a lot of that since its not very practical to memorize all the words in the english language.

Absolutely. It helps to keep a small dictionary handy. That way you can look up a word that not familiar. It's an easy way to understand the word because seeing a word used in a sentence gives you a better understanding of the word.

Yes. When you encounter a word you don't know, write it down and look it up in the dictionary.
