Yes, you can use 52x cd, but the fastest the CD burner will write is at 40x. Whatever software will know that you will be limited to a maximum speed of 40x and will show you that option. Personally, I usually burn stuff at a slower speed like 24x or 32x just to make sure I don't get CRC errors when burning.

Yes...but you'll be lucky to burn at 40x either. Most CD-Rs just won't burn that fast..even if they are rated at 52X.

i think teh 52x on the cd is what speed it will take up to so it will manage any slower speed..
but you are loads better off burning them as slowly as you have time for because the quality will be better and they are less likely to f*** up

well yea it can actually the 40x is the reading part not the writing speed.
