You'll be mowing your own lawn and someone comes up to you asking how much you charge? I don't know how it is everywhere, but in my area there are a lot of gardeners for hire that are Mexican. One time my dad was mowing our lawn and this lady walks up to him assuming he was a worker and asking how much he charged. Not even considering the fact that a Mexican could possibly own property in a nice area. So I just want know if this has happened to anyone else. I'm sure it has though

No, but I was at an upscale hotel with my family and someone asked me what time I would be cleaning the rooms, then asked if I could take some of her laundry down!
I was pretty offended...just because I'm Hispanic doesn't mean I can't be actually staying at a nice place. I just smiled politely (inside the middle finger was flying) and said in the thickest accent I could muster, "No ma'am, I don't work here, I'm a guest. There is a white lady down the hall who DOES work here, maybe you should talk to her."

a fairly new neighbor across the street asked my husband that question when he was out mowing our lawn.

It happens to my brother all the time-then again, he's a teenager. And the old people in my neighborhood are always looking for a teenage kid to cut their grass in the summer.

At my old job I would be outside washing the stores windows and people would always ask if I could come to their house and do their windows, they were only joking though.
