I think the most amusing thing about the answers given is that several people have tried to credit the Aztecs with the invention of the calendar. this demonstrates the often absurd attempt to elevate the Aztecs (and other pre-Colombian civilizations) into something considerably more important than they actually were. No doubt this is done by those who have a political purpose of denigrating Western civilization.

The Aztec civilization, such as it was, did not arise until the 13th Century. They therefore could not have been the first people to have a calendar.

The Jews have used a calendar since biblical times. The Hindu Calendar descends from the Vedic times. The Egyptians and the Babylonians had calendars of equal or greater antiquity.

Calendars develop as an intrinsic part of civilization since marking the passage of time to determine when to plant or when to move the herds to winter pasture are required parts of the process of developing efficient agriculture which is itself the precursor to civilization.

As such the name of the creator of the calendar has been lost to the mists of time.

The ancient Egyptians were the very first to invent the calender over 5,000 years ago. A specific person is not named as far as I know. It is stated that "the Egyptians" developed the very first one.

The calender that we use is the a modification of the Gregorian calender. Ways of measuring time go way back. The ones that we are relatively sure of go back as early as ancient china.

Calendars are not discovered, they are invented. There are many calendars, and so your question is not clear. Most calendars, except for the most recent ones, do not have well-known individual creators.
