To all these Republicans everything is always morally wrong. Well,. is it morally wrong to break Constitutions, send our troops to be slaughtered, Strike a country that never bothered us, talking about morals how you Cons, seem to forget breaking all the Ten Commandments except one 'Thou Shalt Not Commit Adultery has been broken.. First you have to find someone to commit adultery with and if Bush found someone he still couldn't break the Commandment, cause he can't., he just not UP to it.

To start with there is no law prohibiting any kind of stem cell research. There is federal funding for Adult and Cord Blood stem cell research, but not Embryonic stem cell research. In 1995 President Clinton signed into law a bill that prohibited federal funds for any kind of Stem Cell research that resulted in the destruction of human embryos. President Bush refused to sign a bill that would grant federal funds for Embryonic stem cell research. Privately funded Embryonic stem cell research is still legal.

most of them are against it for a variety of reasons that are pretty silly unfortunately. Let's go down the list
Embryo's: These embryo's are taken from embryo's that are all be discarded by fertility clinics and donations anyways, none of them are viable
Government funding: The government has been funding research for ever with regards to medical problems, why is this any different? And when you're trying to cure diseases that kill 100,000 more people then terrorists, why do people support spending 100,000 times more on defense then on finding cures and other solutions to medical problems.
they may not work: Neither might not have the polio vaccine(government funded) or the patriot missile(government funded) so is that really a valid point?
reading responses on here is painful, they are so ill informed it is awful, these are non viable embryo's, what is so hard about that to understand, and every bill that has been sent to Bush has stated that only non viable embryo's can be used, this is such a ridiculous thing to even listen to since you are all so painfully uninformed. And to all the privately funded people out there talking, it creates more expense to these labs who do both private and public research since they can only use private funds in their stem cell work, leading to accounting and research nightmares for researchers

Republicans that are against stem cell research by THE GOVERNMENT are only against embryonic stem cell research., The reason is we believe that any life should not be used for research and then disposed of. We believe the embryo could of become a life and thus we are creating embryo for research only not for procreation as they are to be. If private companies want to do this we currently do not stop it but we do not believe the government should fund this destruction of embryos.

No, it's actually the other way around. We are afraid, that after you have killed it, it won't have the chance to become a republican, or democrat for that matter.
By the way, we are NOT against stem cell research, just the government funding it, and using abortion to obtain your stem cells.

Show me a single beneficial result of embryonic stem cell research.
Democrats, especially Clinton vetoed all federal funding of stem cell research. Why are democrats against all stem cell research?

We are all for the more productive stem cell research of "adult stem cells" as well as embryonic stem cells taken from placenta and umbilical cord blood, not to mention they can now take skin cells and convert them...why should we support government funding for the destruction of embryos when it it absolutely immoral as well as unnecessary?

Perhaps I should not answer, since I'm not a Republican, but my objection is solely on the grounds that there is NO authorization given in the U.S. Constitution for funding scientific research of any kind. If private companies and/or private citizens want to to fund it, that's fine.
