That party lives in my imagination...not reality..... alas, that would require a lack of self-interest...

That would be one seriously dissilusioned party. The world isn't sweet, light, pure, caring, and just all around good, so if there was a party that claimed to be that, they would be living in the dark. How would they confront issues like the booming child sex trade? Human trafficking? Crack babies getting left in dumpsters? Seems a little too far out there to be true, or maybe thats why you haven't heard of such a party before.

The only party like that is the party at your house with close family and friends.

It was over on 5th and Broadway. Just all around general sweetness, goodness, light, and caring. Well, 4 out of 5 ain't bad. Partied all night. They just don't throw them like they used to.

I know what you're fishing for.
I think that there are elements in both major parties that believe the ideals of their party are all about goodness. And there are pragmatists in both parties who know otherwise.
And I think that members of both parties generalize about the other party, and they generalize about their own party.
That's the real world. Different from person to person.

You got Beatrix Potter mixed up with Alice in Wonderland here. Both fairytales. Wrong category.
Politicians are not about sweetness and light unless you are Bill Clinton the "popular" President. Another fairytale in my book.
Thank you very much.

The party who is caring, noth parties has their good and bad members. The party who thinks their caring, it's the Democrats. Republicans are most likely to sacrifice to help others, but they tend to help those who are closer to them. Good Democrats try to help the world more than their own community, but they are less likely to get things done, because they set their goals too high to actually achieve much.

It does not matter
the decisions are made by the "political machine" that decides who the people vote for as well as what the policians do and say. They have the money and power that makes the choices.
Until these "power" people who hide behind the scenes lose their power, the rest of it is crap
