Actually the new Intel Macs can be fully Windows compatible with the full version of Windows. The speed is FASTER on the Mac only on huge files of 1-4gb. Yes, I mean GIGABYTES! For the average person who only wants to surf there is no denying that a PC is cheaper.
The difference is total uptime hours. We use THE FASTEST computers in the graphics world. In 10 years we have had only (1) Mac failure. On the PC side we have replaced every PC to maintain speed compatibility to the software (3) times. Not due to failure but for poor performance.
So if price is more important than uptime. Buy a PC. If performance, longevity of usefulness, and uptime are more important. Then buy a Mac.
As to Macs having a strange interface. Sorry. But that is not true. You have seen XP and now Vista. Guess what system that is a clone of. YUP! You guessed it. Mac.

I'm intrigued by MAC, too, but I'm afraid that it's like, MAC is the Corvette and PC is the Chevy.
Just for fun, yesterday, I went through the process of pricing all the stuff it would take to build up a MAC powered the same as my "souped up" HP (and note, the MAC has no SD card reader built in and only 2 USB ports!), and the MAC weighed in at TWICE the price for the same power!!!
So beyond the learning curve, and of course depending on ONE company for ALL replacement parts, THAT's the problem you may run into...

i am biased i HATE macs, i will try to be as considerate to those incompetent machines. Honestly compatability is the only thing Mac Os X is really secure but the hardware is relatively slow compared to the PC side of things, just get boot camp and run windows if there are windows apps u still need to run.

For someone who has used PCs all their life, the interface will be a little bit weird also.
